My name is Alastair Purple from Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England. I was diagnosed in October 2003 with Motor Neurone Disease, I was told to expect to live for 3 years, I was given the only drug available to MND/ALS sufferers; this was expected to extend life by a few months. I had terrible side effects from the drug, and took to my bed unable to move my limbs without help.
